James Robertson has now published the audio and video from my Smalltalk Solutions 2008 talk. He's even put the audio into the Industry Misinterpretations stream, which I highly recommend you subscribe to.
I took a bunch of pictures at Smalltalk Solutions 2008. Of course, I'm not in any of them, but you might recognize some of the other famous folks.
I just finished giving my jam-packed keynote at Smalltalk Solutions in Reno. I knew the originally proposed "persistence" part of the talk was going to come up a bit short, so luckily the organizers allowed me to also give my evangelizing talk (Seaside: Your next web framework) as well. Even though this talk was "preaching to the choir", it seemed people listened to it rather intently, to help them understand how to sell Smalltalk and Seaside to others.
I'm busy hacking away at my hour-long presentation for the rapidly approaching Smalltalk Solutions 2008 conference, on "Persistence for Seaside". I'm starting with an enumeration of all the ways that data can persist, both open-source and commercial. I've come up with the following list so far:
- Saving the image
- GOODS
- OmniBase
- SIXX
- Magma
- Prevayler
- SQLite
- PostgreSQL
- GLORP
- Cincom's ActiveRecord
- Roe
- Gemstone/S
Apparently, I've made the cut, and have been selected at Smalltalk Solutions 2008 as an invited speaker. I'm planning on talking about Seaside and the various persistence solutions, including Magma, Glorp, and Gemstone. Throw me a line if you're planning on being there and want to hook up.
